So you want to make backups of those DVDs of yours just in the event that your original gets damaged? Where do you even start. Let's say you have a DVD writer already in your computer but you have know software to do anything like this for you. Well I will tell you what I currently use.
REQUIREMENTS
1.DVDShrink (Available at http://www.dvdshrink.org)
2.Nero Burning Program (Free 30 day Trial here)
3.DVD Burner installed in your computer

Go to http://www.dvdshrink.org and download the latest release of the 'DVDShrink' program. The latest release at the time of this article is 3.1.7. The program supports Windows 9X/2000/XP.
The whole point of this program is to read from the orginal DVD and present you with several options on what to extract for burning onto your destination DVD. This completes the step of getting program #1
DVDShrink will do just about everything for you except for the burning process. To burn the data you have read from the source DVD you will need a program like Nero. The current release of Nero at the time of this article is 6. You can get a fully functional trial version from here
This completes the step of getting program #2
Using Nero simply burn the files that DVDshrink gets from the original DVD.
