I came across an issue last week with a company that had a problem selecting the individual mailboxes of an Exchange 2003 Server for backup. The information store itself was selected with no problem however the ability to restore individual mailboxes would not be possible.
The company was running Backup Exec 9.1 (with the latest build). Of course a problem like this was usually the result of Microsoft Outlook not being installed and setup to check an account on the Exchange server from the tape backup system. But, Veritas 9.1 fixed this requirement.
So the cause/fix. To backup the individual mailboxes it's required that the account being used isn't hidden from the public address book. In this case, the company had hidden this account in a previous effort to clean up the listings of recipients.
Sounds like a simple fix but Veritas has not put this resolution on their support site as of this date. So, Rhian has. I am not sure if this issue applies for previous releases or not. But having another possible remedy in the quest of troubleshooting these types of annoying issues is always a good thing!
